CTLA - Tree Valuation

25th April 2008

This two day long seminar covers the highly topical issue of Tree Valuation.
Specifically this seminar was a detailed introduction to the Council of Tree & landscape Appraisers (CTLA) methods as detailed in the ISA book "Guide for plant appraisal" which is currently in it's 9th edition. Askham-Bryan proved a good venue for this, the day before the ISA spring conference in 2002.

At the second course in Bournemouth October 2003 we had a good number of local authority tree officers. Their feedback at the and of that course was very positive, all were able to see clearly how they would be able to apply the principles learned to the valuation relating to tree budgets and enforcement over the two days of the course. The third course at Bath (October 2005) was a resounding success

Tree Valuation 4 is scheduled for April 25th and 26th 2008.

The venue will still be Capel Manor college just off the M25 at Junction 25.

Due to costs we have to get this event pre-booked so book before the end of February to avoid dissapointment.

The speaker this year will either be Scott Cullen or, for the first time ever, Russ Carlson. As soon as we know which, that information will be posted here.

Therefore if you want to reserve your place on this next seminar,  contact:-

David Lloyd-Jones on 01565 621234 or by e-mail at chairman@consultingarboristsociety.co.uk .

While we suggest that all attendees also get the book to accompany the course, with that book and the course in hand, each delegate should leave with the rudimentary grasp of a new distinct area of compet ency which will assist and guide their further study. They will also be able to apply for inclusion in the new TREE VALUATION page on this website and would be eligible for Professional CAS Membership.

The Tree Valuation group within CAS has its own members page where the public or other allied professions will be able to access members. To comply with the requirements for inclusion into the Tree Valuation group each member will have to have completed this seminar (or subsequent seminars), they will have to have a suitable level arboricultural qualification and have a current issue (the 9th) of the Guide For Plant Appraisal. They must also be able to provide proof of adequate current Professional Indemnity Insurance. )

The current CTLA Guide for Tree Appraisal (an ISA publication) is available at £84 or £50 for ISA members. Workbooks are also available:- "the Cost of Cure file folder" which comes with the notepad which has 10 pre-printed forms, are also available for £19 or £16 for ISA members. There is also another package for the "Trunk Formula & Replacement Costs Method" also £19 or £16 for ISA members.

Scott suggests that all attendees review the information held at these links as well as read a copy of the book, prior to attending if you can
